Jessica Rees - Designer, Artist
“Finding the right work is like discovering your own soul in the world."
Thomas Moore
I have been in the interior design business for over ten years, including two years of study and three years under a wonderful designer and mentor, Lesley B. Stearns, here in Santa Barbara. I have a Bachelors degree in environmental studies. I feel strongly about incorporating sustainable design into every project. I have a pragmatic knowledge of feng shui, which I consider in all my designs - that is, understanding the emotional impact our surroundings have on us, and designing spaces which create a sense of tranquility and positive energy. In addition to my love for the interior design field, I am an artist, and have been improving my skill with color and composition through that practice for almost twenty years.
I am a Southern California native, and live in Santa Barbara with my husband and our 6 year old son.

“THE ARTIST NEED NOT KNOW VERY MUCH; BEST OF ALL LET HIM WORK INSTINCTIVELY AND PAINT AS NATURALLY AS HE BREATHES OR WALKS.” EMIL NOLDE
Inspired by Nature, Architecture and modern masters.
Architecture is one of my favorite subjects, and I love working with color combinations and creating paintings around the pairing of both.
My greatest sources of inspiration are nature, architecture, and the works of other artists in a variety of mediums. Those who inspire me are numerous, but include Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Vincent Van Gogh, and my watercolor instructor Tom Henderson. I also find ideas from my work as an interior designer. I plan to do more paintings of home interiors, gardens, and building details in the near future.
Original and GiclÉe Images - Options for the collector
I have had very high quality giclee prints of many of my works created by Giclee By The Bay, in Morro Bay. Each image is photographed with the "Better Light" camera system for an exceptional reproduction and is printed to the highest standards, using state-of-the-art printers and the finest canvas. The image is finished with a protective varnish and is hand-stretched. The prints are each set as a Limited Edition of 100, each with four (4) "Artist Proof" images. Each original and giclee is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
